Information we collect

  • Advertising data (only for users who see ads): the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) collects your device's advertising ID, IP address and basic device information to serve, limit and measure ads. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first through Google's User Messaging Platform; you can change that choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. Lumen Pro users see no ads.
  • Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics collects crash stack traces, device model, OS version, app version and a Crashlytics installation ID so we can fix bugs. Crash reports are only sent from release builds and never include file names, file paths or document content.
  • App configuration: Firebase Remote Config uses a Firebase installation ID to download app settings (for example, ad placement settings). It does not receive your documents.
  • Purchases: if you buy Lumen Pro (the lumen_pro subscription — weekly, monthly or yearly — or the lumen_pro_lifetime one-time purchase), Google Play processes the payment. We receive only the purchase status needed to unlock Pro features; we never see your card or payment details.

Information we do not collect

  • Your documents, their file names or their contents — they stay on your device.
  • Your name, email address, phone number or any account — the app has no sign-up or login.
  • Location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
  • Usage analytics events — the app does not send analytics events.

Permissions the app uses

  • All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), Android 11 and later. Used only to find PDF and Office files on your device storage so they appear in the Lumen PDF library, and to open, edit and save them where you choose. The app explains this before sending you to the Android settings page. Scanning happens entirely on the device and nothing is uploaded. The permission is optional: if you decline, you can still open files with the system file picker or with "Open with" from another app.
  • Read external storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), Android 10 and earlier. Same purpose as above, on older Android versions.
  • Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE). Used only for ads, Google Play billing, crash reports and app configuration. Documents are never sent over the network; the built-in Office viewer blocks all remote content and macros.
  • Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID). Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
  • Google Play billing (com.android.vending.BILLING). Used to offer the optional Lumen Pro purchase.

Third-party services

The app uses the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

  • Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform (Google LLC) — Advertising and ad consent. Data: Advertising ID, IP address, device information, ad interactions. Privacy policy
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — Crash reporting. Data: Crash traces, device and OS model, app version, installation ID. Privacy policy
  • Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC) — App configuration. Data: Firebase installation ID. Privacy policy
  • Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — In-app purchases and subscriptions. Data: Purchase and subscription status. Privacy policy

How we use and share information

We use the information above only to provide and improve the app, fix crashes, process purchases, show ads where applicable, and respond to your requests. We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law.

Retention and deletion

  • Data stored on your device (recent files, bookmarks, imported copies and tool outputs) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Android cloud backup is disabled for this app.
  • Deleted documents go to the in-app Recycle bin for 30 days; you can remove them sooner with "Delete forever".
  • Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
  • Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's privacy policy.
  • Because we do not hold an account or server copy of your data, uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored. To ask us to delete any crash data associated with your device, email us at the address below.

Security

Data sent over the network is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Data stored on your device is kept in the app's private storage, protected by Android and iOS security.

Children

Lumen PDF is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email thanhdat.atwork@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page.
