Terms of Use – Emlish: Speak English with AI

App & developer information

Eligibility

Emlish is intended for learners aged 13 and older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Emlish only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You must also meet the eligibility and regional requirements of the App Store or Google Play and of the AI services described below.

License

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use Emlish on devices you own or control, for your own learning. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer or exploit the app or its lessons, audio, characters or other content without our written permission.

Emlish Premium subscriptions

• Emlish Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription, offered weekly, monthly and yearly. It gives unlimited hearts, unlimited AI conversation including every roleplay scenario, and no ads.
• Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on where you downloaded the app. Prices, renewal periods and any eligible free trial or introductory offer are shown by the store before you confirm the purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• You can manage or cancel renewal in your Apple ID subscription settings or in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access normally continues until the end of the paid period. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies; we cannot issue store refunds ourselves. A refund or revocation may end access early.
• Restore Purchases checks your existing store purchases; it does not add another billing period.
• Deleting your Emlish account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

Gems and hearts

Gems and hearts are virtual items used inside Emlish. You earn gems by completing lessons, daily check-ins, missions or by watching optional rewarded ads, and spend them on features such as Emma's AI replies. Virtual items have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred, and may be adjusted to keep the app fair or to correct errors. They are stored on your device and are lost if you delete your data or uninstall the app.

AI features (Emma)

• AI chat, roleplay and dictionary features are optional and require your separate consent in the app. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.
• After you consent, your messages, conversation context and speech transcripts are sent through our server to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini or Alibaba Cloud Qwen) to generate replies. See the Privacy Policy for details.
• AI replies are generated automatically and can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. They are for language practice only and are not professional, legal, medical or financial advice.
• Do not submit confidential or sensitive personal information. Do not submit unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit content, try to make the AI produce such content, use the AI to generate spam, or impersonate anyone.
• We may apply reasonable rate limits and may suspend AI access in cases of abuse, automated scraping or attempts to bypass limits.

Ads

The free version of Emlish may show ads from Google AdMob. Where required, we ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the websites they lead to.

Acceptable use

You agree not to cheat, exploit bugs, use unauthorized tools to modify the app or its virtual items, interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our services or servers, or use the app for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms.

Intellectual property

The app and all of its content, including lessons, exercises, audio, the Emma character, graphics, logos and code, are owned by 한베에듀 (Hanbe Edu) or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws.

App Store and Google Play terms

If you downloaded Emlish from the App Store, your use is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Emlish is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that learning results will be achieved. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of progress, virtual items or data, or damages arising from reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

Ending use and deleting data

You can stop using Emlish at any time. You can delete your account and data in Settings → Delete account and data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Remember to cancel any subscription separately in your store account.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Emlish after an update, you accept the updated Terms.
